Dinner at Pondok Satay, USJ8 , Subang Jaya

I've heard many good things about this particular satay(skewered meat grilled on top charcoal) joint from various bloggers. Whilst not being an actual "pondok"(hut), it's a shoplot located in USJ8 (just behind the police station and opposite the mosque at USJ9). It's a typical restaurant/kopitiam that serves malay food, but it seems that they are more famous for the satay.

I went with my ex-college mates who wanted to go satisfiy their cravings for satay as they have not had excellent satay over the years. The place is not hard to find, being the only shop with a satay stall outside; it really is quite easy to spot. Upon arrival, they'll serve otak-otak while you wait for your satay (it is not free however :x). Pondok Satay serves up 3 kinds of meat; chicken, beef and lamb. We had close to about a 100 sticks combined.

I have to say, the chicken seems to be the most flavorful among the meat. You could easily tell that it is well seasoned and the fat on the meat is kept at a minimum. My other favorite one was the lamb. Although it does taste a little strong, it is well complemented by the satay sauce. The beef one was a bit of a disappointment as it was rather bland. The satay sauce was nothing too different than any other places which is probably a good thing. The otak-otak was so-so, nothing really much to say about it(other than it seem to be redder than normal).

Overall, I would recommend this place as this would be one of the better satay joints in Subang Jaya. Service is so-so, but acceptable.

Any recommendations for satay? Drop me an e-mail or post your suggestions at the comment box.
