Dinner at Jogoya, Starhill Kuala Lumpur

Jogoya requires no further introduction, it's a popular buffet spot in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Located on the Relish floor, Starhill, you will walk right to the entrance if you take the escalator. I've covered this place before, so I'll just post more pictures to tempt your tastebuds this time around :D (old post here).

Dim Sum at Hong Ling Restaurant, Subang Jaya

Have been wanting to blog about this place and finally I have a chance (friend's request on good dim sum around subang/sunway). This is Hong Ling restaurant, located in the ss15 near the EON Bank. They serve Dim Sum from 7am to 2pm.

This place is probably one of the better places that serve Dim Sum around Subang Jaya. They offer quite a range of Dim Sum, and one of my favorite would be the black bean chicken feet. If you're here, do try out their "Han Pau", which is like Char Siew Pau, except the outside is something like toasted bun.

Lunch at Meaty House , Taipan USJ

"VERY GOOD"; that's what the boss of Meaty Housesaid to me. I had lunch at Meaty House, Taipan USJ 10. Meaty House is located just beside Starbucks Coffee. As the name implies, it serves meat, and by meat it is pork meat; though they also serve lamb, chicken and fish.

Meaty Meaty: their in-house products are sold here too.

Thick and strong : A glass of Iced Lemon Tea.

The boss of Meaty House recommended their signature pork dishes. "No good then we wont serve it here already", so he said. And he was right, the food here is excellent. I had Grilled Pork Belly, and my mom had Grilled baby backribs with sausage. We had Iced Lemon Tea to go with our meal. The tea was thick and it was good. The boss recommended that we eat with their homemade honey mustard. That was good too. Overall, if you like meat and want big portions, this is the place to be. Awesome serving size, taste, and price proportionate to your dish. Also, if you are interesting in buying their pork products, they sell it in all major hypermarkets nationwide.

Lunch at Kiku Zakura, Mid Valley

Initially Tech Yann wanted to have steak, so I brought him to Maredo's Bangsar but it wasn't open, so we detoured to Mid Valley instead since japanese food was second choice on his list. We stopped by Yuzu @ Gardens, but it was too expensive so we settled for Kiku Zakura at Mid Valley instead.

I ordered vegeterian tempura set while Tech Yann had large sushi platter. It took quite a while for food to arrive, even though there was hardly anyone around. But that's okay because the food was good. The vegeterian set came with vegetable tempura, fried tofu with bean sauce (the sauce reminded me of chee cheong fun), salad, rice, soup and dessert. Tech Yann's sushi platter came with many unidentified servings ( Can you name all the sushi above?). We finished up with shaved ice; I had the melon flavored and Tech Yann had the strawberry flavored. It is a strange mix of fruit,red bean and whipped cream. My melon didnt quite taste like melon( more like lemon), but the strawberry one was apparently good (so thats why the waitress was pushing for strawberry :s).

Dinner @ Chilli's 1 Utama (round 2)

After our show ended, we decided to have dinner in 1Utama as it was going to be jammed because of rain, and peak hour(7pm+). So we ended up in Chili's to have dinner. I've blogged about this place before, so there's no need to for re-introductions (you may want to refer to the old post here ). I'll just leave some pics here for you to drool upon :3

Dinner at TGI Friday's, Subang Jaya

My parents wanted to eat something else than our usual chinese dinner, so we went to TGI Friday's instead to have dinner. Located in Subang Parade (with huge front door facing the main road, you wont miss it). this place seems quite packed everytime I come here. We had to wait at the door for 10minutes or so due to the lack of tables. Fortunately we didn't need wait too long and got in shortly.

My dad loved the combo set, where you get to pick an appetizer, main course and dessert for only rm39.90. So we went for Mac n Cheese, Fish n Chips and Chocolate mudpie. We ordered an extra appetizer combo as well.

One set of dishes from TGI was enough to keep the 3 of us overly full. Overall food taste was not too bad and I loved the smoothie. TGI Friday's seem to focus a lot on their beef steaks, and my parents don't eat beef, so I couldn't order any of their specials. Lamb meat seems to be almost non-existant in the menu as well. But all is well, it kept us full through the night xD

Pancake, I made it.

Tried making some pancake this morning, and the result didn't seem too bad. Tho however I forgot to prepare any sauce and so I ended up eating plain ._." . Tried flipping the pancakes while they're being cooked as well, it was fun... until i accidentally splattered the mixture outside the pan. messy messy :(

Dinner at TianTian Lai Seafood Restaurant, Sunway

While it is called a restaurant, Tian Tian Lai(everyday come here, in literal meaning) Seafood Restaurant is actually a food court. By night the "Tai Chow" store opens, serving various kinds of food. I was there with my mom and relatives as they seemed to like the taste and the value. I decided to follow them there and check it out for myself.

Conveniently located just behind Kakimotor Sunway( the one by the highway), it is actually pretty hidden from sight. I didn't know there was actually a food court at that place( Medan is the food court that I actually only go to in Sunway as it's nearer to my college).

We ordered 4 dishes, XO Loh Mee, garlic fried vege, ginger onion fish and bean paste pork ribs. The food is here is not bad, but I didnt eat their signature loh mee cause its seafood :( . It is essentially Loh Mee with a hint of XO liquor. I would have prefered thinner slices of fish like any other place, but I guess this one isn't too bad either. As for the Pork Ribs, I would say they didn't cook it long enough( I prefer softer meat, maybe those who like tougher meat would enjoy it). Overall 4 dish, and tea for 5 did not pass RM50. Talk about good value here.

Tea break @ Paddington House of Pancakes

After a lol-ing session @ Cineleisure watching Tropic Thunder, we got hungry and decided to look for a place to eat. Francis suggested Paddingtons, so we went over to the area in between the Curve and Cineleisure(all the food stores are there!).

Paddington House of Pancakes is a seemingly posh place, serving everything with a touch of pancake. They have menus the size larger than your wedding album(if you have one that is). A very cozy place too with some nice ambience.

I ate this: Dutch pancake with various sauces.

Kelvin's: Hot Chocolate /w marshmellows and set no.406

Francis' : Lasagna looking chicken+ham served with mashed potatos and veg.

Overall, the food here is quite good. Francis commented his chicken was rather bland, and Kelvin's black pepper sauce was little dull(preferred to have more kick); but other than that it was satisfying. As for mine, all I can say is, there is There is honey inside the wrap, blueberry on top of the wrap, half a lemon on the plate for you to squeeze and a cup of cinnamon sauce for you to pour on top of everything. But how did it taste in the end? Not too bad actually.

Oh, and all desserts ordered on weekdays except Fridays and Public Holidays are 50% off.

KC cooks - Rosemary Chicken

Been pretty busy lately, but here is another of my food preparing/cooking post. Started off with my mom de-boning the chicken, she asked me if there'd be any recipes that I know off(not that I not many actually ;s). I bought a bottle of Rosemary a week ago, so I thought 'why not use it'. Fresh leaves are still the best, but I don't know where they sell it(can someone tell me?).

Seasoned meat : sugar,salt,pepper,rosemary leaves.

I put the chicken in the mixing bowl, started adding rosemary, salt, sugar and some black pepper. Massaged the chicken meat for a bit, and then dumped it into a cling bag and left it in the fridge for a couple of hours.

Fast forward towards dinner out. It was time to cook, I told my mom that we should grill it, but somehow or another it turned out to be like stir fry instead. Taste wise it wasn't too bad, but the chemistry isn't there; it was probably due the 'Hiong Choy(chinese fragrant leaves)' she added which kinda overlapped with the rosemary. Result : not quite as planned.

Fast forward another weekend, this time I told my mom to deep fry the chicken instead. I prepared the chicken the same way, except this time without Rosemary and alot of black pepper as seasoning. Dipped in flour, all the meat went into the hot oil. Mom bought sour plum sauce, so she made it as sauce to go with the meat.

Nugget-like : Deep-fried black pepper chicken.

So how was it this time? I would say, I loved it. alot.
