[Review] Dim Sum @ Celestial Court, Imperial Sheraton KL

During Christmas, my parents wanted something special to eat. My dad recommended that we try this restaurant that serves Dim Sum. We headed down to KL to Imperial Sheraton, which was located at Jalan Sultan Ismail. We were fortunate to find a parking just outside the hotel, and it was free too as it was a public holiday. The Celestial Court is located at the 3rd Floor of the hotel.

Contrary to normal Dim Sum stores or restaurants that serve Dim Sum, instead of trolley steamers, you'd have to actually order from the menu. They'll then prepare it, so it was better, since they're made to order.

Ambient Lighting gives the environment a cozy feel.

Your standard weapons to attack the food. Includes a huge cup of tea to flush down your meal.

Enough with the environment. Here comes the food(pictures) we ordered.

Chicken Congee, Eye of Phoenix(Scallop dumpling), Prawn Dumplings, Siew Mai Dumplings, Fish Ball, Wantan in Soup, Barbecued Pork Chicken Bun. The food here is excellent, everything was fresh and had a better taste compared to others. The BBQ'd Chicken Bun was the best, it had the exact texture of your normal BBQ'd Pork Bun(Char Siew Pau), except it is chicken. The Wantan in soup was also great. The soup was thick and tasteful while the wantan had a smooth skin on it where you can just slurp it in your mouth(of course you need to chew before swallowing first!).

The bill totaled up RM115 including gov. tax and service charge. Each dish averaged about RM13. Tea per pax was about RM5.

All in all, this place is a worthy place to visit. Despite the price, it was actually very filling. A must try for those of you who haven't. And also, The Celestial Court is HALAL. They serve Dim Sum from 10.00am - 2.30pm.

Nintendo Wii Updates for Malaysia

I hear Nintendo Wii is coming to Malaysia next year. Joys to official release. Apparently one of the GameAxis staff has *leaked* some information pertaining the console.

1. The Malaysian Wii will be the US version with 220v adapter

2. Official Malaysian Wii games will be English (US) games, similar to the DS games

3. It is likely to be sold in a bundle with two additional items. One of the item is a game, but it's not gonna be Wii Sports.

4. Price? Well, let's just say its gonna be VERY attractive. Way, way lower than RM2000.

5. It's expected that there's gonna be more than enough of units available for Malaysia.

That's some good news to us locals. However, the main issue that remains is the price.

"For SG, the taxes imposed is only about 5%. for MY, its 21%. of course, this only applies for official units. You'll probably get cheaper with parallel imports for obvious reasons."

So, Nintendo Wii US Price + 21% tax + Profit % = RM1xxx. Only time will tell how much will it cost. I'm not holding my breath though. At one point next year, when there are sufficient consoles to meet the demands, the prices will fall.

From the workshop...

Yup, my car was still leaking engine oil.

Went to my usual mechanic to check out what going on. On inspection, he told me the metal gasket may be worn and needed replacement. It would cost rm300-rm400 just for a single sheet of 1mm metal gasket o_o. My mech suggested that he try tightening the head just in case if it was loose.

He then took out the head cover, wiped it clean, and then proceeded to use to a tool that measures the amount of pressure required to tighten the head. It seems that if the head screws were not tightened on equally, it may cause other problems. He told me it takes about 95pounds of pressure to secure the screws in place. O_o

Once, all 8 screws were tighten, he reapplied gasket sealant and then put back the head cover. He proceeded to screw the screws in...until something happen.

My mech went omfgwtfbbq. I had the same reaction. At first I thought the screw may have snapped. But then, he told me the head cover cracked instead. I was like, is that even possible, since the head cover is essentially made of metal. He had never seen or even managed to crack the head cover before.

He then scoured the shelf to find a replacement cover. He found one and then proceeded to replace the existing cover. Albeit dirty, but it did the trick. He then sent the car to wash of the engine oil.

He came back later and told me to keep an eye on the engine just in case if it leaks again. If it does....rm300-rm400 will be flying again >.>

I still have a few things unsorted for my car.
- Wet Floorboard
- Broken Fog light
- Torn seat cover
- Replacement of interior
- Repair the dent on the side >.>

It's over

yep, exams are finally over. Cheer up Li Tsan, we're gonna partyyyyyy. HOOOOO~

Gonna meet up with with the eX-Alpharians by next week I guess.

(Oh man, whats with all the one-liners >_>)

Anyways, adding new stuff to my car. This time is a lightened crank pulley. Supposely it improves torque and horsepower and well as *reducing* fuel consumption(stock pulley = 2kg, lightened pulley = 800g). But hey, more HP/Torque = more fuel consumption right? rofl.

original pulley = over 2kg.

lightened pulley = +-800g.

Screen Fix

Recently, marks of stuck pixels have been showing up at the edge of the screen. It's so noticeable its not even funny. I asked a friend whether I am entitled to send it for warranty, but he answered;

..."No, the warranty does not cover stuck pixels".

I felt doomed, as the stuck pixels can be annoying when I have a light wallpaper. He then replied that there is a software which claims to be about 50% success rate.

Enter .

JScreenFix is a Java Applet that changes pixel colors rapidly(about 60Hz). I left it overnight, and my, it did work. There are still stuck pixels there, but its alot lighter now.(Click image to enlarge)

As you can see, there are noticeable streaks of stuck pixels.

JScreenFix did help alot. There are still streaks of unstuck pixels, but they are not noticeable unless you stare at the screen closely.

I am going to leave the applet on for another few hours, and see if it is possible to remove all the stuck pixels

Seems like there is minimal stuck pixels now. I cant provide a better close up(camera not able to focus).

Safe to say, this program actually works. For those of you having stuck pixels, you can try out JScreenFix.

But knowing this lecturer, its going to be FCKING HARD(mind my language).

little snippets of life

Today, I failed my discrete maths 2. I really did. I left 5 out of 7 question's not hard but I cant understand it(typical me @_@ ) .

anyways, Oracle, hueg or huegest?

These are my manuals for using Oracle... I'm like supposed to read those up for extra tips for exams and for my assignment troubleshoot guide.

Mind you, they aren't thin either...the manuals are only the 1st and 2nd chapter, I presume there will be more if I ever encounter this subject during my bachelors' degree. Comes with a 2-in-1 pen + highlighter. Nifty stuff.

Sorry for the lack of content these days, I really dont know what to throw in. Oh, and I just got myself an original game xD. Its the Need for Speed : Carbon. Costed RM79 during promotion period. I'll write up more on that tomorrow.

The Bling and the not

This week has been quite a bad week for me, mainly due to rushing assignments and things breaking down @_@

For my car, the rubber gasket seal had worn off and engine mounting cracked. That alone will already cost rm220.

Next, my hard disk broke down in the middle of the night @__@. I was kinda expecting this drive to KO, but I didnt expect it so soon. I lost a few gigs of anime i downloaded this month.

The PSU ko'd also, I got myself a replacement. I told myself no more cap ayam psu and decided to get an Enermax PSU. I wanted to buy the coolermaster extreme at first, but it seems that it wasnt suitable for my motherboard. So I had to borrow some cash from Kian Guan to buy the psu.... Here's some bling pictures... xD

Enermax FMA 350w at its glory, i dont need 400w yet :x

All the random goodies, it even has a manual :O

Look, no wormy wires! :P

Later part of the day, I need to go for an Internship discussion/talk and also about my other Final Year Project after I completed my internship.

Indomee again...

My previous trip to Carrefour, all the Indomee original flavour were sold out!(the whole damn shelf empty!?). I resorted to buying other flavours instead, Kari Kapitan flavour and Tom Yam.

I had the Kari Kapitan flavour. It tastes somewhat like the Maggi Curry, only not that salty(and you dont have to boil with water, this is dry curry!). It came with onion flakes too which is a nice addition. But it'll never replace the original flavour..arghhh....good night! xD

p/s: To Tsan and Heng Kai, I know you want some of this :P

Upgrades for teh pc!

Hooray, after suffering from a long lack-of-hard-disk-space draught..i finally got my hands on a new 250gig hard disk. My mom wanted a wireless network in the house, so we went shopping today...Here's our loot xD

The cost:
Netgear Router - RM138
Netgear USB Network Card - RM99
Western Digital 250gb HDD - RM270

Engine wash do not want!

KNN punya mobil ss14.

Due to the engine oil leaks yesterday, my mech asked me to go for an engine wash to clear off the oil.I headed to Mobil SS14(since it was the nearest place to have engine wash)I ask to the guy to wash only under the manifold where the engine oil leaks are. Little did I know, he went ahead and washed all the compartment.Ok, so I thought he knew what he was doing...wrapping the sensors and my open pod air filter.

Splash with chemical, soap yada yada, fine thats normal, after that he took out the wrappings and sprayed something onto my air filter i was like WTF?

After that he say siap, I asked again,"siap kah". He said yes, my car bonnet and fenders left with residues of soap(i think) and the engine bay isnt dry. HE DIDNT BLOODY WIPE OFF THE RESIDUES. I fired the up car and it started choking >_>.

Reminder to self: If I ever need to wash my engine, I'll do it myself. As for car wash, I'll still patronize the place.

Sabotaged or Half-assed job?

A few days ago, i noticed there were engine oil leaks coming from my engine and onto the floor. I set an appointment with my mech and headed to his place today.

First thing he saw when he popped up the bonnet, he was like "woah, massive spills". I was like "omg, will that cost alot? x_x". He proceeded to plug out the sensors and unscrewed the engine head cover. He asked me whether the engine was tampered before. I was thinking,"tampered? why?". Then to my surprise, ALL of the screws on the engine head cover were loose.

To make things worse, when he flipped the engine cover, he asked me again,"Gasket sealant very expensive issit?". I blur blur reply,"issit?". He told me there wasnt any gasket sealant present, hence suspected leaking due to two of the reasons above.

He took out a bottle of gasket sealent." This is how you APPLY gasket sealant" and he repeatedly spreaded the sealant. His friend helped him to dry the engine cover and then added back the rubber gasket with added sealant.

Luckily the repair costed peanuts.

Then he fired up my car. His friend noticed something in my muffler. I was like wtf?? something in my muffler!?. Darn, seems the hatred for big muffler has come to me >_>. Will probably be changing to an s-flow muffler soon.

On the side note, the weather was funny today. It rained for like 2 minutes, stopped and rained again. Rinse, wash, repeat. The other mechs doing up an EG6 was like *toot* *toot*

How un-Malaysian are you?

Congratulations Kclee2002, you are 33% not Malaysian.

That means you're as Malaysian as...

Michelle Yeoh!

How Un-Malaysian Are You?

*How un-Malaysian are you brought to you by Kennysia.

Pink Colored....

Its a fad nowadays for pink colored stuff. First we have a pink ps2, then a pink psp, a pink nintendo DS Lite and finally a pink colored Ipod. So why not buy a casing that matches the color of your machine? Following the trend, I recently bought a pink colored Ipod Leather casing for a friend's birthday present online. It costed quite abit(not telling you how much xD) . 100% genuine leather as told by the seller(how do you determine whether its real or not?)

Real leather dyed pink. Package includes a leather strap and a clip.

Who in the bloody mind would use a screw to secure the clip on the casing?!?

QC... bad >_>.

Oh well, risks do happen when shopping online, since you cant see what the real product looks like. I guess all is fine other than that small defect. Now, shall we pink-ify everything around us? Shoes, shirts, pants, underwear, hair color? xD

[Review] Soft99 RainHop Car wax

Ever felt fustrated that rain leaves marks on your car? Dont like to rinse your car over and over after your car gets wet under the rain?

"Air pollution produced when acid chemicals are incorporated into rain, snow, fog or mist. The "acid" in acid rain comes from sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides, products of burning coal and other fuels and from certain industrial processes."

This is where Soft99's RainHop car wax comes in. This wax guarantees that water will hop off your car. This may be especially useful when you dont rinse your car. As their motto goes; " Shiny Shield of anti Acid Rain", surely it will do something. So I set off and bought a can from Eneos 1Utama. It costs rm24.90 and comes with a small sponge inside the cap.

RainHop Wax with 2 microfibre cloth for waxing and buffing.

I started off by following the instructions, where most importantly a car wash is required before applying wax to get rid of grime and dirt. After washing, you need to thoroughly dry the car.

preparing to wash the bonnet.

sploosh! with car shampoo and water, wash off the dirt and grime.

After I wiped the car dry, I proceeded to wax the car. I did half of the bonnet to experiment whether the product will work(videos below). A cloth is required to buff off the wax and leave a nicely coated shine.

Notice the two different tone on the bonnet.

With Soft99 wax on

Without Soft99 wax on

Water doesnt stick with the wax.

Water seem to be staying on without wax.

I have to say, this product really works. As you can see in the video, the water flowed down quickly and did not stick alot to the surface(Other types of wax may do the same, but maybe less effective). Sure it did not jump off, but I guess thats fine(pun :P)It didnt shine much due to my half assed waxing job. I'll do a full waxing for my car later on when its not so hot.

The only place I found this was at Eneos 1Utama, I'm not too sure if they sell this product elsewhere. Kudos to Rico@SPOC for recommending this product.

-Excellent water repelling properties

Pro-Hatchers Convoy to Putrajaya

Pro-Hatch recently held a convoy to Putrajaya on the 26/07/2006. The convoy included over 80 satrias(including myself). This was my first club outing since i've joined the Pro-Hatchers. Definitely awesome. Here's a brief log about the event.

I arrived at the first checkpoint at Sunway rest area at about 8.15pm. I went searching for the other members and I bloody overshot the parking area and landed to the exit heading out to the highway. I quickly reversed the car and went straight into the parking.

My car in the middle. The black Satria is turbocharged(monster~)

Red Mivec bodykitted Satria and a white Promote/Cwest bodykitted Satria

More cars at the corner

The crowd. Lotsa people by 8.30pm

Monster Satria, evo3 engine kicked in yo'

The convoy then moved in 10by10 cars. I was in the last group. We all left the checkpoint at about 9pm. We were crusing all the way until we hit the 2nd toll both. Disaster, or rather a blessing in disguise happened. A police cruiser came by and asked why there were so many cars stopping by. The comittee member then showed the officers the permit and we were free to continue our journey.

The police cruiser then turned on the siren and proceeded to escort us. Little did we know, the officer suddenly started speeding, so we had to do the same in order not to be missed out. We went off at the excess of 140kph and arrived at PutraJaya in a short 10minutes. Crazy cops..heheh

Monsters Monsters everywhere i see~

The 2nd and 3rd convoy groups from KL and Sri Hartamas arrived shortly after.

Sub Level(committee member) then introduced me to the senior hatchers(he was complaining that I wasnt mixing around). About 11pm, photo session begun and we started arranging cars by color/model. Hightlight of the day was the Satria Neo(one and only during the convoy). Sorry for the lack of pictures after(got too tired walking about a distance of 40 cars front and back). Event ended at about 12am. The convoy then proceeded to Cyberjaya for a TT at the mamak. Others went back included myself. I followed a friend's car back to USJ and we had a mini TT before proceeding back home.

Oh and more pictures of the convoy will be on Traffic/Hypertune magazine. So wait for that yeah :P
